Dr. Moshe Langman

Dr. Moshe Langman

Story given by Anat Rosen, granddaughter of David Rashkes , the son of the brother of Moshe’ mother.

Moshe Langman was born in Kovno on the 18th of May, 1913.

He was a graduate of the Hebrew Reali high school in Kovno. He attended the faculty of medicine

In the Kovno University and received his Medical degree in 1939.

In 1941 he, with the rest of the Jews were forced into the Kovno ghetto. He was also coerced by the Germans to take part in the labor unit and was assigned to sanitary jobs as well as giving first aid to members of the forced labor.

In 1943 he was sent to the KIDAINER forced labor camp as a medical doctor for the camp. After some time he was assigned to another camp; PALEMANER .

He attempted to escape from the camp that was encircled by electric barbed wire. He was able to get in touch with a Lithuanian person and who promised to give him shelter in exchange for valuables and a sum of money.

After receiving the money and valuables the Lithuanian got in touch with the Gestapo and informed them. The Gestapo found Moshe and killed him on the spot.

The sister of Moshe Langman, Bela Zukerman, survived and she now lives in Montreal. She gave reports to Yad Vashem about her family members:

  Dr. Moshe Langman was born in Kowno, Lithuania in 1914 to Archik and Sheine. Prior to WWII he lived in Kaunas, Lithuania. During the war was in Kaunas, Lithuania. Moshe died in Keidany, Lithuania.  Langman Archik

  Archik Langman was born in Vendziogala, Lithuania in 1884 to Shakhna and Henia. Prior to WWII he lived in Kaunas, Lithuania. During the war was in Kaunas, Lithuania. Archik died in 1941 in Kaunas, Lithuania at the age of 57. This information is based on a Page of Testimony submitted on 01/01/1985 by his daughter from Canada.

Langman Sheine

  Sheine Langman nee Rashkes was born in Kowno, Lithuania in 1888 to Chaia Charne and Leyzer Rashkes. Prior to WWII she lived in Kowno, Lithuania. During the war was in Kowno, Lithuania. Sheine died in 1941 in Kowno, Lithuania in the big action on October 28th, 1941. This information is based on a Page of Testimony submitted on 01/01/1985 by her daughter .

Langman Moshel

  Moshel Langman was born in Vendziogala, Lithuania to Shakhna and Henia. Prior to WWII he lived in Kowno, Lithuania. During the war was in Kowno, Lithuania. Moshel died in 1941 in Kowno, Lithuania.
