Mr. Levitan,
I have been researching my Charad family name and came upon your Braslav web site. I have just spent hours reading through it. You are to be commended for its content.
I am particularly interested in items #bras-43 and #bras-44. That Charad family is definitely in my ancestral tree. I would like to ask you if you have any additional documentation regarding these two items. Or if there are any particular web sites that might have information regarding the Charad family. I find it interesting that Folke Rafael’s name is spelled Charat while Berl-Wolf’s last name is spelled Charad. Is there any documentation as to why that might be?
My grandfather’s name was Yehuda Leib Charad, Berl-Wolf’s brother. Many from ‘that side’ of the Charad family migrated to Montreal Canada, where I was born and raised. I have also discovered a whole other group of Charads in South Africa and we believe that we are related, we just cannot find any documented proof. Their grandparents also came from Braslav. I would even have to believe that my late father Ralph was named after Folke Rafael (Rafael was my father’s Hebrew name).
Any assistance you can provide would be immensely appreciated.
Thanks,
Aron P Charad
